Similar to the project we undertook at St George’s Hospital, the corridor linking the children’s waiting room to the children’s treatment rooms at Airedale Hospital’s Emergency Department was very long (20m) and uninspiring. The brief was to create something visual along the length of the corridor to help parents distract their children as they wait to be seen.
We created a giant mural with bespoke illustrations created by local artist, Lorraine Duff. A greetings card designer by trade, this was Lorraine’s first hospital project and the largest design she has ever worked on at 47m2.
Working with Lorraine we also created the donor tree artwork in the lobby of Airedale’s Emergency Department.
Meg Crossley, emergency department consultant at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust, said previously the corridor was very long and plain.“Many parents and children have told me they think the mural is lovely. It provides distraction and something to talk about they move around the department and the corridor has a really friendly feel now.”
“It has been a pleasure to work with New Vision. They listened carefully to understand what we were trying to achieve and came up with a range of options for wall art for our new Emergency Department. The designs are fabulous and the service and installation has been of the highest standard. We are absolutely delighted with the end results and will without doubt use New Vision again.”
